The 14th edition of the most awaited and biggest T20 tournament in the world, The IPL 2024 is currently in the pre-production phase. All the teams have released their list of retained and announced players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Now the teams are ready for the mini-auction where the teams are filling their gaps using their purse money.
Before Min-Auction, BCCI had asked all franchises to give the list of all retained and released players for the IPL 2024 Mega auction players list. The franchises released a total of 57 players, while the rest chose to keep key players with the team.

The BCCI is yet to decide whether the upcoming IPL 2024 will be held in India or not. However, Board President Sourav Ganguly has repeatedly emphasized that every effort will be made to organize it on the home ground.

The IPL 2024 mega auction will be held in Chennai on 18 February 2024. The announcement comes after the IPL Governing Council meeting on 6 January, where it was decided that eight teams would hold the IPL 2024 edition of the tournament.

The February IPL 2024 auction will be the first time that teams have no additional funding, meaning they will have to release a host of big names to raise their purses and free up their squad. The biggest of those names is Steven Smith, captain of the Rajasthan Royals last season, which was released by the franchise.

The BCCI recently announced, the February 4, 2024 deadline as the deadline for players without contracts to submit online for player auction agreements for the tournament. The deadline for submissions by post has been set as February 12, 2024.
IPL 2024 Auction Rule 2: Eligibility Criteria For An Indian Under-19 Player
The BCCI has set the following IPL 2024 Auction Rule for Indian Under-19 players to feature in the IPL 2024 auction.
- Must be registered as a player with the state association.
- Must have played at least one match in first-class cricket or List A cricket.
- Must be born on or after 1 April 2002.
IPL 2024 Auction Rule 3: Eligibility Criteria For An Uncapped Player Who Has Retired From Domestic Cricket
The BCCI stated on the condition that for an uncapped player, who has retired from domestic cricket, to get into the IPL auction, the player would have to get its approval.
"Any uncapped player who has retired from domestic cricket can submit his auction contract for player registration only after obtaining written approval from BCCI"
